The Bamboo Panels Journey began in 2008 our first container of black bamboo arrived in Australia. Those panels came from a small community in Yogyakarta that was rebuilding its life after the 2006 earthquake, which shattered homes, workshops, and long-standing traditions. Through a CSF development program, families were trained to create export-quality bamboo products, giving them a path forward and a chance to rebuild their future with. That moment marked the beginning of a partnership built on respect, loyalty, and shared purpose.
From the start, we worked with the same families and workshops—not wholesalers, not middlemen. Real people, real craftsmanship, and a relationship that still stands today. Their skill and our commitment to became the foundation of the most reliable bamboo fencing panels we know how to deliver.
When our early imports were showcased at the 2008 Gold Coast Home Show, it was one of the first times Australians had seen black bamboo fencing. The response was immediate. Over next three years, demand surged. We traveled the country, exhibiting at garden and home shows, container loads of bamboo panels to retail outlets, exporting to New Zealand, and even appearing at the first Elslie Flower Show in Christchurch
But as bamboo fencing grew in popularity, the market soon flooded with cheap, poor-quality copies.Instead of joining the race to mass-produce disposable products, we made a decision that defined our future
We stepped from the noise and focused on what mattered: staying loyal to our craftsmen, protecting the quality of the product and delivering the best bamboo panels to our local customers—panels we could stand behind without hesitation.
Nearly two decades later, that still guides us. We continue to source from the same community, honouring the same relationships that started this journey. And today, we install what we genuinely believe are some of the highest-quality most durable bamboo fencing panels in Australia built with care, shaped by experience, and supported by a story no imitation can copy. This is more than a product. It’s a journey of resilience, craftsmanship, and staying true to the people who helped us create something lasting.
